The Heber Hord House is a two-story frame house in Central City, Nebraska.It was designed by Omaha architects Fisher & Lawrie, and built in 1906 by Heber Hord, the only son of Thomas Benton (T. B.) Hord, a prominent business man and cattle rancher in Nebraska during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
In the 1950s, Nebraska Central College closed (1953), but a new hospital was built in 1959. In 1975, an explosion and fire destroyed an entire city block, but Central City still reached its largest population to date at 3,083 people in 1980. Central City's population has declined slightly since then. [8] [9] [10]
