The Kurgan is a fictional character from the first Highlander film. He is portrayed by Clancy Brown. He is an Immortal, the main antagonist to Connor MacLeod in Highlander, and the latter's ultimate opponent in the Gathering. The Kurgan's life story is fleshed out in several Highlander spin-offs in various media.
Brenda witnesses the Kurgan attack Connor before police arrive, forcing them to flee. She meets with Connor twice afterward, hoping to learn about the paradoxical sword. Connor likes her but tells her to leave him alone. Meanwhile, the Kurgan duels and beheads Sunda Kastagir, another Immortal.

Connor is the star of two mini-series that each act as a prequels to the original film: Highlander: Way of the Sword and Highlander: The American Dream. He appears in the mini-series Highlander Origins: The Kurgan. The comics met with a mixed reception.
