Kai and Nya ride the Fusion Dragon to battle the Iron Doom. The Hands of Time open another time vortex to escape, but Kai, Nya, and Wu confront them. During the fight, Wu rips out the Reversal Blade, sabotaging the Iron Doom in the process. Kai and Nya are thrown off the mech with the Reversal Blade and return to the present day.
Ninjago focuses on a group of six teenage ninja, named Lloyd Garmadon, Kai, Cole, Jay, Zane and Nya, and their wise sensei, Master Wu. The ninja team's purpose is to battle against the forces of evil, including Wu's brother, Lord Garmadon.

Cole later rejoined Lloyd, Kai, Nya, and Zane. Kazumi Evans as Wyldfyre, a feral pyrokinetic human who was raised by a dragon, Heatwave, as well as a caregiver robot. After Heatwave was captured by the Claws of Imperium she sought to rescue him. She joins the Ninja in their search for the Dragon Cores, eventually becoming Kai's protégé.
Kai and Nya end up being captured by Ronin as well, followed by Jay and Cole. The Ninja are taken to Kryptarium prison. Meanwhile, Nadakhan steals the Realm Crystal from Cyrus Borg's vault located in Hiroshi's labyrinth.
