Gene Cornish (born May 14, 1944) [1] is a Canadian-American musician. He is an original member of the popular 1960s blue-eyed soul band The Young Rascals . From 1965 to 1970, the band recorded eight albums and had thirteen singles that reached Billboard's Top 40 chart.
The Rascals (originally known as the Young Rascals) are an American rock band, formed in Garfield, New Jersey east of Paterson in 1965. [2] The original lineup featured lead vocalist and keyboardist Felix Cavaliere, vocalist and percussionist Eddie Brigati, drummer Dino Danelli, and guitarist and vocalist Gene Cornish.
In late 1964, Danelli teamed with Cavaliere, Brigati, and a Canadian-born guitarist named Gene Cornish to form the Young Rascals. Cavaliere and Danelli traveled to Las Vegas in January 1963–1964 to back up singer Sandu Scott and her Scottys, but returned to NYC in February 1964.
The single's B-side, "I'm So Happy Now" (also included on the Groovin ' album), was written and sung by Rascals guitarist Gene Cornish. Featuring a unique guitar phase-out ending, it was the first Cornish-penned song to appear on a Rascals single.

The band was formed in 1977 by bassist Gene Cornish and drummer Dino Danelli, former members of The Rascals (although Cornish was guitarist for the group). Soon, guitarist/vocalist Wally Bryson, (formerly of the Raspberries) was added, alongside guitarist/vocalist Lex Marchesi and keyboardist/vocalist Frankie Vinci.
