St Helier (/ ˈ h ɛ l i ər /; Jèrriais: Saint Hélyi; French: Saint-Hélier) is the capital of Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands in the English Channel.It is the most populous of the twelve parishes of Jersey, with a population of 35,822, [4] over one-third of the island's total population.

The parish is around 3.9 kilometres (2.4 mi) east of St Helier. The parish covers a surface area of 4,354 vergées (7.8 km²). The parish includes the south-east portion of the main island of the Bailiwick of Jersey , as well as the Minquiers islets several miles to the south, and is dominated by the broad sweep of the Royal Bay of Grouville.
The Jersey Boat Show, an annual event in and around Saint Helier Marina. There are three marinas — the La Collette Yacht Basin, the Saint Helier Marina (built in 1980) and the Elizabeth Marina. The La Collette Yacht Basin is the only one of these to provide non-tidal, 24-hour access to the sea and is home to Jersey's commercial fishing fleet. [5]
Gorey Pier is the eastern terminus of the A3 La Rue à Don, which is the main road linking the village to Grouville Church and to St Helier. It was formerly the terminus for the Jersey Eastern Railway. [7] As part of the Eastern Cycle Network plans, Gorey will be connected to St Helier with a direct off-main road cycle route.
