The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT / ˈ t ɛ k s. d ɒ t /) is a Texas state government agency responsible for construction and maintenance of the state's immense state highway system and the support of the state's maritime, aviation, rail, and public transportation systems.
Loop 567 was designated on November 25, 1986, from US 377 west of Granbury northeast to FM 51 north of town. On May 25, 2000, by district request, the road was extended 2.25 miles (3.62 km) east and south to Bus. US 377.
The department defines a route on the system as a "roadway to a recognized recreational area, so designated by the Texas Transportation Commission"; routes on the system are very similar to those on the Park Road system, except that a Park Road is defined as "Roadway to a recognized state or national park".
