The GRE is hardly an obstacle. HKS barely asks for 75th percentile (so like 160) for their most rigorously quantitative program (the MPA/ID), meaning you can get away with a lower score for the MC MPA. If you have a science background and two careers you can do the high school level algebra in the GRE.

On 11/14/2014 at 11:01 AM, Gov2School said: Princeton doesn't offer an MPA/ID program. If you participate in the MPA or MPP program at Princeton, you can choose International Development as your field of study (the Wilson School has four fields of study, and each student specializes in one field), but they don't have a specific MPA/ID degree ...

  4. MPP or MPA/ID from Harvard Kennedy School? - The GradCafe Forums

    forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/10231-mpp-or-mpaid-from-harvard-kennedy-school

MPA/ID is very focused - its core is quant-heavy (they joke about completing the work for a PhD in econ without receiving the degree), and those courses take up the entirety of the first year. The MPP offers a variety of concentrations, allowing some students to follow a similar program, but many others take a good deal less econ and stats (and ...

I'm not sure how well the MC-MPA program is regarded in comparison to other mid-career programs (like Princeton's MPP program for example). But all in all, from what I've heard generally, HKS is often viewed as one of the more legitimate policy programs and a powerhouse within U.S. domestic policy.

  7. Small vs. Large Program (Princeton vs. Harvard for MPP)

    forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/117706-small-vs-large-program-princeton-vs-harvard...

Though some things are program-specific, I think it mostly comes down to the benefits of a smaller program (Princeton) vs a larger one (Harvard). Pros for Princeton: There are only 60-70 MPA students entering each year, so the class sizes are super small and it's easy to get into any classes of interest and connect with professors. Because the ...

Business and economics are two related but academically speaking fundamentally different things. The reason why they like PhDs is because those roles deal with those economic analysis that PhDs have been trained on. Even if you get in as an HKS MPA-ID grad, you will most likely play 2nd fiddle to PhDs anyway.
