Language A: language and literature is a new course for first examinations 2013, intended to replace the Language A2 course in group 2. [4] The main aim of the course is to "encourage students to question the meaning generated by language and texts, which, it can be argued, is rarely straightforward and unambiguous".
The Mother Tongue paper is different from the other papers, in that it includes a "Mid-Year Examination" for written papers (i.e. Papers 1 and 2), taken on the first Monday of the June school holidays. The Oral and Listening Comprehension papers are usually taken in July, and the results for Mother Tongue are subsequently released in August.
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET), formerly Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is a standardised test in India conducted by the National Testing Agency at various levels—CUET (UG), [1] CUET (PG), [2] and CUET (PhD), [3] for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate programmes in Central Universities and other participating institutes. There are also subjects, such as Japanese and Chinese, with 200 UMS available for the A-level and 100 for the AS. Some A-levels (e.g. Mathematics and single sciences) retain the 600 UMS mark system. Raw marks awarded in an exam are converted to UMS marks according to the difficulty of the exam paper and the performance of candidates.
The marking scheme is same as earlier i.e. for SCQs, +4 marks for correct answer and -1 marks for incorrect answer and 0 marks for not answered, and for numerical type questions, +4 marks for correct and -1 marks for incorrect. [5] JEE-Main, unlike JEE-Advanced, has a fixed exam structure and is not subject to change every year.
Each incorrect answer leads to the deduction of 1 mark. Unanswered questions are awarded 0 mark. Therefore, maximum marks awarded in IAT are 240. The total marks obtained by a candidate out of 240 is considered for preparing the Rank List. Not every candidate appearing in IAT is awarded a rank. Rank cut-off is announced at an appropriate time.
The Sri Lankan Ordinary Level (O-level) formerly called Senior School Certificate (SSC), is a General Certificate of Education (GCE) qualification in Sri Lanka, conducted by the Department of Examinations of the Ministry of Education.
Before 1975 the grading scheme varied between examination boards, but typically there were pass grades of 1 to 6 and fail grades of 7 to 9. However the grades were not displayed on certificates. The CSE was graded on a numerical scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being the highest and 5 the lowest passing grade. Below 5 there was a U (ungraded) grade.
