East Linton is a village and former police burgh in East Lothian, Scotland, situated on the River Tyne and A199 road (former A1 road) five miles east of Haddington, with an estimated population of 1,790 in 2022. During the 19th century the population increased from 715 inhabitants in 1831 to 1,042 by 1881.
East Lothian is served by a local paid-for weekly newspapers, the East Lothian Courier. The East Lothian Courier (known locally as "The Courier") began as the Haddingtonshire Courier in 1859, before changing its name in 1971. [26] It was owned by D&J Croal, based in Haddington, until its purchase by the Dunfermline Press Group in 2004.

Lothian East (/ ˈ l oʊ ð i ə n /; Scots: Lowden East; Scottish Gaelic: Lodainn an Ear) is a constituency in Scotland which returns one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, elected by the first-past-the-post voting system. The constituency was formerly known as East Lothian.
Macmerry is a village located on the old A1 (now renumbered the A199) just east of Tranent. The village has a primary school with a roll of around 100. Macmerry Industrial Estate. There is an industrial estate to the east of the town. Originally this area was part of the RAF Macmerry, also known as Penston, which closed in 1953.
Stenton (Scots: Staneton) [1] is a parish and village in East Lothian, Scotland. It is bounded on the north by parts of the parishes of Prestonkirk and Dunbar, on the east by Spott and on the west by Whittingehame. The name is said to be of Saxon derivation. The village has a number of houses, a school, and a church.
