The larger barn was the cattle barn; the smaller being a sales barn. In 1912 the Polled Herefords brand was introduced. In 1914 J.M. Pettigrew, built a champion herd, pairing up with Ron and Gloria Severtson in the 1950s to further develop the herd. Between the 1920's and 1980's, the polygonal barn saw weekly sales of cattle, sheep and pigs.

It is very nearly circular, measuring 60 feet (18 m) in diameter, with 18 sash windows and four doors. The barn was built in 1918, from a pre-cut kit ordered by catalog.

The Corson Emminger Round Barn near Watertown, South Dakota, United States, is a round barn that was built during 1909–1910 by Corson Emminger. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. [1] It is "extremely tall", on a 50-foot-diameter (15 m) base.

The fairground's centerpiece contributing property is the 2 + 1 ⁄ 2-story-tall octagonal barn. It is built of a wooden frame and has hardwood floors and a wood-shingled roof. Small, square-shaped windows front every wall, including the octagonal cupola at the top of the building; these upper floors are accessed by a cast-iron interior stairway.
The McMonies Barn, near Huron, South Dakota, was built in 1915. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. [1] It is a wood-framed feeder barn with a gambrel roof, on a cement foundation. It has also been known as the Mentzel Barn. [2]
