Amar Ujala (lit. ' The Immortal Brightness ' ) is a Hindi-language daily newspaper published in India which was founded in 1948. It has 22 editions in six states and two union territories covering 180 districts.
The main edition is published in Varanasi. The newspaper was founded by a freedom fighter named Shiv Prasad Gupta . During the days of Indian national freedom struggle , Aj not only served the cause, it also helped spread the popularity of Hindi literature among commoners in Hindi heartland and non-Hindi areas as well.
Hindi-language newspapers have the largest circulation, followed by English and Telugu. [ 4 ] [ 5 ] Newsstand and subscription prices often cover only a small percentage of the cost of producing newspapers in India, and advertising is the primary source of revenue.

Mostly all major English, Hindi and Urdu dailies including Times of India, Hindustan Times, The Hindu, Dainik Jagran, Amar Ujala, Hindustan, Rashtreey Sahara, Inquilab, Hausla News available in Jaunpur. Hindi and Urdu dailies also have their bureaus in the city. Almost all major Hindi TV news channel have stringers in the city.
The Hindi daily news papers include Amrit Vichar, [47] Dainik Jagran, Amar Ujala and The Hindustan. Prominent English dailies like The Times of India, The Hindustan Times, The Young Turk and Indian Express have fewer readers. The local Urdu newspaper is Rampur ka elaan. It is published from Rampur since 1991. [48]
