The Georgetown Neighborhood Library is a branch of the District of Columbia Public Library located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Established by an Act of Congress in 1934, the library houses the collection of its predecessor Peabody Library, which was founded in 1872 by a donation of George Peabody.
Riggs Memorial Library served as the main library of Georgetown between 1891 and 1970, until it was replaced by Lauinger Library. Riggs library, which is located on the third floor of Healy Hall, is one of the few existing cast-iron libraries in the country and still serves its original purpose of storing books.
The library was originally conceived with a traditional design similar to other buildings at Georgetown University. Healy Hall is a National Historic Landmark and the flagship building of the main campus of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., United States.Constructed between 1877 and 1879, the hall was designed by Paul J.
