Temasek Polytechnic (TP) is a post-secondary education institution and statutory board under the purview of the Ministry of Education in Singapore. Established in 1990, TP is renowned for its law and design programmes. It is also the first and only polytechnic in Singapore to offer a law programme. [1]
During the 1960s and 1970s, vocational education was managed by two separate statutory boards, the Adult Education Board (AEB) and the Industrial Training Board (ITB). They were merged in 1979 to form the Vocational and Industrial Training Board (VITB).
The first polytechnic in Singapore, Singapore Polytechnic, was established in 1954. [71] Ngee Ann Polytechnic, has roots that go back to 1963. Established in 1963 by the Ngee Ann Kongsi , NP is renowned for its business programmes and central focus on entrepreneurship education .
Temasek Junior College is one of the five pre-university centres to offer the Chinese Language Elective Programme (CLEP, or 语特), since the launch of the programme in 1990. [15] Students are required to undertake H2 Chinese Language and Literature and a Chinese Language related subject to be eligible for the programme.
Adult learners may also apply for admission. Beside grades, applicants are admitted based on experiences, co-curricula activities and passion for the degree programmes.
