WHEN IS THE BRONX ZOO FREE? Every Wednesday, the zoo offers free Limited Admission tickets, which means you can enjoy almost everything in the zoo except for a few exhibits called Star Attractions. (See below).
The three main entrances are Asia Gate (pedestrian entry at Boston Road & Bronx Park South); Bronx River Gate (Pedestrian and Vehicle – Exit 6 off Bronx River Parkway); and Southern Blvd Gate (2 Subway, Pedestrian entry at S. Blvd and 185th Street; Vehicle entry at S. Blvd & 183rd St).
All park experiences/amenities/schedules are subject to change. Some attractions are seasonal. Attraction availability is always subject to unforeseen conditions including weather, mechanical, safety, capacity, crowding, and/or animal-related considerations.
Bronx Zoo tickets for visitors aged 13 and above cost US$34 on weekdays and are available for US$42 on weekends. Meanwhile, tickets for children between three to 12 years of age are available for US$24 on weekdays and US$32 on weekends. Infants under three years of age can get in for free.
Although we went late and only spent about 3 hours there, we still had a very nice time. We went on a Wednesday, when there is admission fee, so that made it worthwhile too. The only complaint that I had, was that the parking fee seemed a little bit too high for the time that we were there.
Remember that to access the Bronx Zoo for free on Wednesdays, you must also reserve a date and time of attendance through the park's website. The rest of the week, only infants under 2 years old can access the Bronx Zoo for free.
Prices are $22.95 for adults; $14.95 for kids three to 12, and $20.95 for seniors. Kids under two are free. While the “Total Experience” tickets may sound like an upsell (and we suppose, technically it is), in our opinion, if you can swing it, it’s the way to go.
