Just a smooth palm sized rock works! As long as its cleaned and sanitized you can get one anywhere! I live in an apartment complex so there arent really a whole lot of areas I could find them outside so I just bought one at the pet store in the reptile/fish area.

  4. Himalayan Salt Licks? - Rat Forum

I know the himalayan salt licks are supposed to have extra minerals and stuff in it (hence the confusion). Thanks! I liked the idea of salt licks and thought it would be cute to get one some point. However rats don't necessarily need the extra sodium. So I'd say skip it and get them healthy treats instead.

The reason I ask is because I paint miniature figurines and sometimes mount them on a cork base. I had some unpainted cork on my workbench and Oreo started chewing on it. I was pleased with the results and was thinking about putting a big ...

1.) Rats in pet stores are from subpar lines and genetics. What that means is, even if they appear healthy in the store and while they're young, later in life they will more than likely develop health problems, sometimes very serious ones that end up being fatal or decreasing their quality of life greatly.

  8. Are Pumice Stones Okay for Rats? - Rat Forum

    www.ratforum.com/threads/are-pumice-stones-okay-for-rats...

One of my rats has tried twice to chew on a pumice stone. She doesn't seem interested in any of the wooden things I've got for her to chew on. So I was thinking about going to the beauty store to get a piece of pumice for her, if it is safe. Lava ledges are made out of natural pumice stone so yes it is safe- that is as long it is also NATURAL ...

    www.ratforum.com/threads/question-about-a-problem-with-my...

Question about a problem with my rat's tail. The tip of my rats tail (about 2-3 inches) has gotten rock hard. Its stuck in a slightly curled position and it feels like hard plastic. Its almost like you could just snap it right off. It still has fur and skin in this area. It doesn't seem to be causing him pain.

And in my experience with hairless rats, they can get scratches pretty easily, especially from their own nails but they heal pretty quickly usually.

Nothing has changed in her diet or environment, she seems happy and healthy and acts just as she always has. No scabs, no excessive itching, no ...
