The East Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Royals, is an Australian rules football club based in Leederville, Western Australia, current playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW). Formed in 1902 as the Union Football Club, the club entered the WAFL in 1906, changing its name to East Perth.

Cronin again coached East Perth from 1951 to 1955 – with his best successes coming in 1952 and 1953 when East Perth made it to the 1st semi final but lost. He also coached the state in 1951. His coaching may not have reaped much for the Royals, in fact his final stint came at the end of a prolonged era of frustration for the club.
He retired in 1956 due to a knee injury, missing out on East Perth's premiership. After retiring from AFL football, he continued to play with East Perth until the end of the 2003 season. In total he played 69 games for the Royals. He was colorfully referred to by 3AW commentator Rex Hunt as "prior conviction". His son Jaxon has played for the Brisbane Lions since 2020 but was delisted in 2024 and signed by Essendon for 2025.

Playing mainly as a wingman, he also represented Western Australia in 16 interstate matches, and later coached the East Perth Football Club between 1983 and 1986, before dying in 1993 at the age of 46 from a heart attack. Brehaut was posthumously inducted into the West Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
