AR 350-1 describes what physical readiness training is all about. The AR name has changed and FM 21-20 also went away but the premise is the same: PT sessions every morning are only part of a physical fitness program.

As the Army rolls out a new physical assessment for its newest soldiers, the service also is studying the possibility of creating a combat readiness test for troops already in the ranks. The test, if senior Army leaders decide to pursue one, will be one way to assess soldiers’ abilities to meet the demands of their jobs after leaving the training environment, said Command Sgt. Maj. David ...

    15. 7. 7. 0. There is nothing more enjoyable than doing a DD Form 2977, Deliberate Risk Assessment Worksheet. But is it all worth it. After spending several hours trying to develop my mitigating factors in order to prevent any injures when my platoon crosses the street I can't help but to think "what did they do in the past?"

So I was in basic training land today to help with some medical stuff. I couldn't help but noticed all the shaved heads all over the place and then the females with 20 ft of hair. In an era where we are screaming equal treatment; is this equal?I am also wondering why does a new private have to get his head shaved in the first place? Why not just a haircut within Army Standards? Have the lines ...

I'm currently assigned to do a few PT sessions with my Battalion and I was wondering if anyone had any creative PT sessions. Getting stuck in doing CD 1 & 2 and MMD's can lower morale. I'm looking for something fun that will get everyone involved and be beneficial to physical readiness. I've been thinking of sprint races with board questions and "poker pt". Any and all replies are greatly ...

Physical and mental readiness is priority. People lose touch with the reality of war and what we are trained to do. When men have tried and failed in SF, jump school, sniper school and many others, the standards were not dropped for them. I am a firm believer in specific MOS pt and physical training standards for all combat arms units.

  11. XVIII Airborne Corps physical fitness standards - RallyPoint

    www.rallypoint.com/answers/xviii-airborne-corps-physical-fitness-standards

The Army standard is the legal standard. Other units sometimes "require" attainment of a higher standard, which can be great for morale, esprit, and discipline, but not necessarily enforceable outside of a training environment (much to the chagrin of some senior people). For example at SETAF we wanted all our maroon berets to run five miles ...
