It is evident that, in spite of increased mechanization and modern weapons, physical readiness retains a vital place in the life of each individual solider and in every unit within the Army.” —FM 21-20, Physical Readiness Training (1969) Historians of military fitness have long observed that an emphasis on physical training waxes during ...
AR 350-1 describes what physical readiness training is all about. The AR name has changed and FM 21-20 also went away but the premise is the same: PT sessions every morning are only part of a physical fitness program.
As the Army rolls out a new physical assessment for its newest soldiers, the service also is studying the possibility of creating a combat readiness test for troops already in the ranks. The test, if senior Army leaders decide to pursue one, will be one way to assess soldiers’ abilities to meet the demands of their jobs after leaving the training environment, said Command Sgt. Maj. 15. 7. 7. 0. There is nothing more enjoyable than doing a DD Form 2977, Deliberate Risk Assessment Worksheet. But is it all worth it. After spending several hours trying to develop my mitigating factors in order to prevent any injures when my platoon crosses the street I can't help but to think "what did they do in the past?"

I'm looking for something fun that will get everyone involved and be beneficial to physical readiness. I've been thinking of sprint races with board questions and "poker pt". Any and all replies are greatly ...

When men have tried and failed in SF, jump school, sniper school and many others, the standards were not dropped for them. I am a firm believer in specific MOS pt and physical training standards for all combat arms units.
as being a combat veteran in the infantry and having 3 knee surgeries at the age of 53 and the last surgery was a complete replacement I now have a handicap placard but only use it when its really bad! probably 10 % of the time because I feel others are worse off than myself. its called respect and manners. personally I have called police and informed establishments if I see a car in a ...

The Army standard is the legal standard. Other units sometimes "require" attainment of a higher standard, which can be great for morale, esprit, and discipline, but not necessarily enforceable outside of a training environment (much to the chagrin of some senior people). For example at SETAF we wanted all our maroon berets to run five miles ...
