On 28 April 1969, LAN Chile Flight 160, a Boeing 727 arriving from Buenos Aires's Ministro Pistarini International Airport, crash-landed 24 km (14 mi) north of Colina, Chile, roughly 50 km (31 mi) north of Arturo Merino Benítez Airport.
