Therizinosaurus (/ ˌ θ ɛ r ə ˌ z ɪ n oʊ ˈ s ɔːr ə s / ⓘ; meaning 'scythe lizard') is a genus of very large therizinosaurid dinosaurs that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous period in what is now the Nemegt Formation around 70 million years ago. It contains a single species, Therizinosaurus cheloniformis.
The humerus (upper arm) was exceptionally robust and flexible with wide lower ends as seen on the humeri of the therizinosaurids Nothronychus and Therizinosaurus. Not only that but the biceps muscle was prominently well-developed in Therizinosaurus. [2] [12] In Segnosaurus, the deltopectoral crest (deltoid muscle attachment) was strongly built. [3]
An alternate definition was given by Clark in 2004 (as the last common ancestor of Therizinosaurus and Beipiaosaurus and all its descendants), comprising a narrower group that excludes more primitive therizinosaurs, such as Falcarius, and allows the name Therizinosauria to remain in use for the larger group comprising all therizinosaurs. Senter and James suggested the ecological niches for Therizinosaurus and Deinocheirus were characterized by high-browsing life styles. Therizinosaurus was found to be among the tallest dinosaurs in the Nemegt Formation. They also calculated that an average Therizinosaurus may have had 3 m (9.8 ft) long hindlimbs. [54] 2011
I tried six brands of store-bought tater tots from Sonic, Ore-Ida, Cascadian Farm, McCain, Signature Select, and Alexia Foods to find the best ones.
Herbivorous or omnivorous theropods include therizinosaurs, such as Therizinosaurus, as well as oviraptorosaurians, such as Elmisaurus, Nemegtomaia, and Rinchenia. [47] Other ornithomimosaurs, including Anserimimus and Deinocheirus, are also found, but Gallimimus is the most common member of the group in the Nemegt. [8]
