Albany (/ ɔː l ˈ b ɪ n i / awl-BIN-ee) is a city in the U.S. state of Georgia.Located on the Flint River, it is the county seat of Dougherty County, and is the sole incorporated city in that county.
In the late 1970s, many US radio stations began calling themselves "Kiss". Among these was KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, which adopted that call sign in 1975 when it became a sister station to KIIS (AM) — whose call sign comes not from the word "Kiss" but rather its dial position at 1150, with the letters "I" and "S" being the letters most closely resembling 1 and 5, respectively. It was the FM counterpart to KHQ (590 AM, now KQNT). The two radio stations, and KHQ-TV, were owned by The Spokesman-Review, a daily newspaper in Spokane. At first, KHQ-FM simulcast the AM station, but it soon switched to an automated beautiful music format. In the early 1970s, KHQ-FM flipped to a Top 40 format. [5]
