Two years after Majin Buu's defeat by Goku, Mr. Satan, feeling guilty that his new hotel is in honor of what the majority of Earth believes to be his victory over Buu, invites Goku, Vegeta, and their families to a banquet. During dinner, two Saiyan spaceships land and a mysterious Saiyan and his wife confront the heroes at the hotel.
Goku eventually bests Frieza in battle and gives him a chance to leave Earth, but is blasted in the chest by Sorbet's raygun when his guard is lowered. Frieza stands over the incapacitated Goku, and offers Vegeta a chance to kill him to become his second-in-command. Vegeta refuses, transforms into Super Saiyan Blue, and attacks Frieza.
Gohan then decides to adopt the boy as his own grandson, and gives him a new name – Goku. During the ending credits, Goku's battles against the Red Ribbon Army, Tien Shinhan, King Piccolo, Piccolo, Nappa and Vegeta are shown, culminating with an image of Goku about to battle Frieza, with the spirits of Bardock and his team watching.
