I experienced the same problem with a Surface Pro 4 that had sat on the shelf for months and unable to charge using the MS Surface Docking Station. Problem: Connecting to a MS Surface Docking Station overnight. The power light blinks and the Surface does not charge. Solution: Use the Travel power adapter.
I have a Surface Pro I bought just after they came out. Was working OK up until this. Now it will not work unless the charger is attached, and the battery does not appear to be charging. Last night when I plugged it in it showed 34%, same as this morning. I checked the charger and it is...

I am having an issue with my charger, it is not charging my Surface at all. The light only turns on for a second and that is when it is plugged into the wall. Same thing goes for the USB on the power supply. It only charges my phone for a second then stops. Any help would be appreciated.

All laptops have this vulnerability, as also do non OEM chargers using the Surface Connector. Here is a quote from a DELL laptop support website: The temperature gets really high with a USB-C dock/charger plugged in and no CPU usage. Its very very hot to touch and my measurement suggests close to 65C in the hottest stop.
I'm after a 12V car charger for the SP4. Has anyone any recommendations? Well to be honest I cant find any and I'm not sure if the SP3 one would work. I'm generally wary of third party chargers but as Microsoft have never released one for any Surface I doubt I will have much choice.
I bought my Surface Pro one week ago. Charged it immediately - no problem. Haven't had a lot of time to use it, so the battery only ran low today. Plugged in the charger, turned on power and - nada. No little blue light, no power to the Pro, no action. I've checked with a multimeter and power is getting from the outlet to the transformer.
