Egg Harbor Township is a township in Atlantic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 47,842, [9] [10] its highest decennial count ever and an increase of 4,519 (+10.4%) from the 2010 census count of 43,323, [19] [20] which in turn reflected an increase of 12,597 (+41.0%) from the 30,726 counted in the 2000 census.
The most populous place in Atlantic County was Egg Harbor Township, with 47,842 residents at the time of the 2020 census; [6] Galloway Township, covered 115.21 square miles (298.4 km 2), the largest total area of any municipality, though Hamilton Township has the largest land area, covering 111.13 square miles (287.8 km 2). Little Egg Harbor Township was formed on February 13, 1740, as Egg Harbour Township from portions of Northampton Township (now Mount Holly), while the area was still part of Burlington County. It was incorporated as one of New Jersey's 104 in the Township Act of 1798 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798.
