Today's 600,000-square-foot (56,000 m 2) mall opened as the 356,000-square-foot (33,100 m 2) Westgate Shopper's Park in February 1963. The original anchor store was local department store Gilchrist's, [ 1 ] which was expanded in 1984-85 and substantially renovated between 2000 and 2003.
