The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS; Japanese: 海外技術者研修協会) was established in 1959 with the support of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, METI) as the first technical cooperation organization on a private basis in Japan.
The Eulogio "Amang" Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) was established after the liberation of Manila in 1945. It started as a vocational school with only one room at the second floor of the Mapa High School, nine teachers, a clerk, and 147 students.
A third phase of development was started in October 2002. The building includes a theatre, auditorium, library, sixth form accommodation, an additional gymnasium, drama studio, music centre and a range of academic and administrative facilities. The building was opened in September 2005. The school now holds approximately 1,800 students.
