It is approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) long and 1 mile (1.6 km) wide at its widest point. The island did not have a flush toilet until 2009. [1]

Louds Island is located on the west side of Muscongus Bay, off the coast of Bristol near the village of Round Pond. The island was settled in the 1750s, and had a population of about 150 in 1798.
