The Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, [1] [2] also known as Nike EYBL, or simply EYBL, is a basketball circuit for teams of players aged 17 and under. The circuit was founded in 2010 [3] and is composed of AAU travel teams. [4] Both boys and girls play in the EYBL in their respective categories.
Teams compete in three divisions: the Junior Boys division (13 to 15 years of age), the Senior Boys division (16 to 18 years of age), and Girls Softball (up to 18 years of age). [8] League schedules run from May through August. [4] Teams compete in regional tournaments in order to compete in the RBI World Series, which began in 1993. [9]
New York continued their stranglehold atop the podium for girls' teams. For the first seven years of NXN, a New York girls' team had claimed the championship. Furthermore, in four of those years (2005, 2006, 2009, and 2010), a New York team also claimed runner-up status to the champion. The same storyline occurred yet again in 2011.
