Bayan Lepas is a suburb of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang.Located near the southeastern tip of Penang Island, 15 km (9.3 mi) south of the city centre, it is home to the Penang International Airport, the third busiest airport in Malaysia, as well as one of the oldest free industrial zones in the country.

The Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone (Bayan Lepas FIZ) is a free trade zone within George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Located adjacent to the Penang International Airport and 12 km (7.5 mi) south of the city centre , it is a high-tech industrial park widely regarded as the Silicon Valley of the East .
The Mutiara LRT Line (English: Pearl) is a light rail transit (LRT) system under development in Penang.The 29.5 km (18.3 mi) line will connect George Town's city centre with its southern suburbs of Jelutong, Gelugor and Bayan Lepas, with a link towards Seberang Perai across the Penang Strait.
Later, the expressway was extended northwards as the Jelutong Expressway, and southwards as the Bayan Lepas Expressway. On 7 December 2010, after former second Penang chief minister Lim Chong Eu died on 24 November 2010, the Penang state government renamed the expressway Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway in his honour.
It is located 15.7 km (9.8 mi) south of the city centre, adjacent to Bayan Lepas and the Penang International Airport. Batu Maung is home to the island terminus of the Second Penang Bridge and the southern end of the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.
