San Diego Mesa College is located in the Clairemont Mesa neighborhood of central San Diego. The campus is bordered by the Tecolote Nature Preserve, Kearny Mesa, and residential neighborhoods. It is home to over 20 instructional buildings and athletic facilities and fields, the Learning Resource Center (LRC), Library, and Mesa Commons. [ 11 ]
Five years later, in 1969, San Diego Miramar College opened on 140 acres in what was then undeveloped land north of the Miramar Naval Air Station, now known as Mira Mesa. Unlike City and Mesa Colleges which offered a wide range of general education classes, Miramar College began by concentrating on law enforcement and fire science training.
In 1969 Miramar College opened on the site of Hourglass Field as a training facility for San Diego law enforcement and firefighting personnel. The site is now a small part of the large San Diego community of Mira Mesa. Most of Hourglass Field is now gone.
For two years, 1965 to 1967, Oceanside/Carlsbad (now MiraCosta College) and Imperial Valley College joined the Conference. In 1967-68, they left the Conference and rejoined the Desert Conference. During 1968-69, for football, Grossmont, Palomar, and Southwestern colleges were in the Southeastern Conference.
Mira Mesa (Spanish for "Table View") is a community and neighborhood in San Diego, California.The city-recognized Mira Mesa Community Plan Area is roughly bounded by Interstate 15 on the east, Interstate 805 on the west, the Los Peñasquitos Canyon on the north and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on the south.
The college was established in 1969. It services 14,000 students annually and offers 70 associate degrees and 90 career technical education certificates. The college is home to the Southern California Biotechnology Center, Advanced Transportation and Energy Center and the San Diego Regional Public Safety Institute.

It is part of San Diego Community College District along with three two-year community colleges : San Diego City College , San Diego Mesa College , and San Diego Miramar College .
MiraCosta College is a public community college serving coastal Northern San Diego County in California with two campuses, one in eastern Oceanside and the other in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, and many satellite locations, including the Community Learning Center in western Oceanside.
