Oak Grove High School (mascot: Lions) and Paragould High School (mascot: Bulldogs) consolidated into Ridgecrest High School in 1986 and it was voted to change the nickname to the Rams to accommodate this consolidation.

The 2010-2011 school year was the last for Oak Grove to operate. [1] The school mascot was transferred to the new Maumelle High School, built a few miles away in Maumelle, AR. The name "Oak Grove" and the school's colors did not transfer. [1] The 2011-2012 school year was the first year in which Maumelle had its own high school.
