Nyman Furr and The Little Juice Band were headliners at the 1981 Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival in Niceville, Florida. [1] Nyman also played with Maggie Lee and the Percussions in the early 1970s. [2] Nyman died on March 10, 2007, according to the Camden, Tennessee Chronicle. [3]

While it is a common misconception, the mullet haircut is not the origin of the festival's name. The festival was founded by Walter Francis Spence Jr. in 1976. The first Mullet Festival took place on September 24, 1977, and soon lasted three days, starting the third Friday in October, and ended Sunday after dark. Alcohol is not served on Sunday.
