Olympique Lyonnais (French pronunciation: [ɔlɛ̃pik ljɔnɛ]), commonly referred to as simply Lyon (French pronunciation:) or OL, is a French professional football club based in Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. With origins dating back to 1899, they were founded in 1950 [2] and provisionally compete in France's highest football division, Ligue 1.
The 2024–25 season is the 75th season in the history of Olympique Lyonnais and their 36h consecutive season in the top flight.In addition to the domestic league, Lyon are participating in this season's editions of the Coupe de France and the UEFA Europa League.
The club participated in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France, reaching the final of the latter competition. This season was Lyon's first ever season under the ownership and presidency of American businessman John Textor, who replaced Jean-Michel Aulas to become the new president, ending Aulas' three-decade rule in the club.
