Tin selenide, also known as stannous selenide, is an inorganic compound with the formula Sn Se. Tin(II) selenide is a narrow band-gap (IV-VI) semiconductor structurally analogous to black phosphorus. It has received considerable interest for possible applications including low-cost photovoltaics, and memory-switching devices.
Its chemical formula is MoS 2. The compound is classified as a transition metal dichalcogenide. It is a silvery black solid that occurs as the mineral molybdenite, the principal ore for molybdenum. [6] MoS 2 is relatively unreactive. It is unaffected by dilute acids and oxygen. In appearance and feel, molybdenum disulfide is similar to graphite.
