Highland Ridge Wilderness is a 68,627-acre (27,772 ha) wilderness area in the southern part of the Snake Range of White Pine County, just south of Great Basin National Park, in the U.S. state of Nevada.
The Highland Ridge Wilderness lies adjacent to Great Basin National Park. These two protected areas provide contiguous wildlife habitat and protection to 227.8 square miles (590.0 km 2 ) of eastern Nevada's basin lands.
South Egan Range Wilderness is a 67,214-acre (27,201 ha) wilderness area in Lincoln, White Pine, and Nye Counties in the U.S. state of Nevada.Located in the Egan Range approximately two miles east of the town of Lund, the Wilderness was created by the "White Pine County Conservation, Recreation and Development Act of 2006" and is administered by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
Several large groves of ancient Great Basin Bristlecone Pine (Pinus longaeva) trees thrive in the Great Basin montane forests of the range's higher elevations. The higher elevations of the Snake Range in the northern section are protected by the Mount Moriah Wilderness Area, and in the southern section by the Highland Ridge Wilderness.

The national monument was created by a proclamation issued on July 10, 2015, by President Barack Obama under the Antiquities Act. [1] Obama also signed proclamations creating two other national monuments (the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument in northern California and the Waco Mammoth National Monument in central Texas) the same day.
