Licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a licensure for mental health professionals in some countries.. In the US, licensed professional counselors (or in some states, "licensed clinical mental health counselors" or "licensed clinical professional counselors" or "licensed mental health counselors") provide mental health and substance abuse care to millions of Americans.
A therapist or a licensed counselor is required to qualify in state licensure exam and also preferred to have a master's degree in addition to completion of internship with a practicing supervisor. [5] [6] Some bachelor's degree holding counselors also practice under the guidance of licensed therapist or a psychologist.
The DPT degree prepares students to be eligible for the physical therapy license examination in all 50 US states. Along with the license examination, some states do require physical therapists to take a law exam and a criminal background check. As of March 2017, there are 222 accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy programs in the United States. [9]

Personal psychotherapy—many programs require students to undertake a certain number of hours of personal psychotherapy (with a non-faculty therapist) although in recent years this requirement has become less frequent. Comprehensive exams or master's thesis: a thesis can involve original data collection and is distinct from a dissertation.
