Military Highway is a four-to-eight-lane roadway built in the South Hampton Roads region of eastern Virginia, United States, during World War II. Carrying US 13 for most of its length, it also carries US 58, and US 460 while in Chesapeake. It is a major alternate route for the Hampton Roads Beltway, crossing four major freeways along its length.
In modern times, Western Branch is an almost exclusively residential area, with the exception of an area around the intersection of Taylor Road and Portsmouth Boulevard consisting of a Wal-Mart Supercenter, several small strip malls, and one enclosed mall, Chesapeake Square Mall which has become undersized relative to the rapid growth of the area since about 2001.
It turned north there onto Hampton Boulevard, rejoining the old route at 21st Street. 21st Street was dropped from the state highway system; the piece of Virginia Beach Boulevard that had been used by SR 337 was reassigned to US 58, which ran concurrently with the new SR 337 between Bank Street (St. Pauls Boulevard) and the Midtown Tunnel.
