The compiler uses argument-dependent lookup to resolve the begin and end functions. [9] The C++ Standard Library also supports for_each, [10] that applies each element to a function, which can be any predefined function or a lambda expression. While range-based for is only from the start to the end, the range or direction can be changed by ...
An array data structure can be mathematically modeled as an abstract data structure (an abstract array) with two operations get(A, I): the data stored in the element of the array A whose indices are the integer tuple I. set(A, I, V): the array that results by setting the value of that element to V. These operations are required to satisfy the ...

In languages with typed pointers like C, the increment operator steps the pointer to the next item of that type -- increasing the value of the pointer by the size of that type. When a pointer (of the right type) points to any item in an array, incrementing (or decrementing) makes the pointer point to the "next" (or "previous") item of that array.
Note that in JavaScript filter and map return a new shallow copy of the preceding array but sort operates in place. To get a similar behavior, toSorted may be used. But in this particular case, sort operates on the new array returned from filter and therefore does not change the original array.
Thus, if the array is seen as a function on a set of possible index combinations, it is the dimension of the space of which its domain is a discrete subset. Thus a one-dimensional array is a list of data, a two-dimensional array is a rectangle of data, [12] a three-dimensional array a block of data, etc.
^c Subranges are used to define the bounds of the array. ^d JavaScript's array are a special kind of object. ^e The DEPENDING ON clause in COBOL does not create a true variable length array and will always allocate the maximum size of the array.
