Samastipur is one of the 40 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Bihar state in eastern India.It is reserved for Scheduled Castes.In the Legislative Assembly segment of this Lok Sabha constituency, Kushwaha, and Yadav caste are dominant, however, due to preponderance of other caste groups, Extremely Backward Castes and Schedule Castes also determine the election results.
As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 133 Warisnagar Assembly constituency is composed of the following: Samastipur municipality, Samastipur community development block; and Shahpur Baghauni, Bherokhara, Tajpur, Adharpur and Baghi gram panchayats of Tajpur CD Block. In 1977, the total number of elected members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly was further raised from 318 to 324.
