Oswald George Nelson (March 20, 1906 – June 3, 1975) [1] was an American actor, filmmaker, musician, and bandleader. He originated and starred in The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, a radio and television series with his wife Harriet and two sons David and Ricky Nelson.
The couple remained married until Ozzie's death from liver cancer in 1975. [11] Her grandchildren include actress Tracy Nelson and musicians Matthew and Gunnar Nelson. She was also the mother-in-law of Rick's wife Kristin Harmon and David's wife June Blair. Nelson and her husband were charter members of the Hollywood Republican Committee. [12]
Nelson directed episodes of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, O.K. Crackerby!, Ozzie's Girls and Goodnight, Beantown. He directed several films, including Childish Things, Death Screams and Last Plane Out. [6] In 1973 he was the producer of Ozzie's Girls, a spinoff/revival of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. [7]
On May 21, 1961, Blair married David Nelson and joined the cast of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. Ricky Nelson was the best man. She had two sons with David, born 1962 and 1966; they divorced in 1975. David Nelson died on January 11, 2011. [2] Blair died in Sherman Oaks, California, on December 4, 2022, at the age of 90. [3]
