Fremont (/ ˈ f r iː m ɒ n t /) is a city in Alameda County, California, United States.Located in the East Bay region of the Bay Area, Fremont has a population of 230,504 as of 2020, [11] making it the fourth most populous city in the Bay Area, behind San Jose, San Francisco, and Oakland.
It was founded on June 11, 1797, by the Franciscan order and was the fourteenth Spanish mission established in California. The mission is the namesake of the Mission San José district of Fremont , which was an independent town subsumed into the city when it was incorporated in 1957.
