Midwest Airlines (formerly Midwest Express) was an airline in the United States headquartered in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, that operated from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport between 1984 and 2010. For a short time, it also operated as a brand of Republic Airways Holdings. [2]

In 1994, Astral Aviation later named Skyway Airlines, Inc., was formed to own and operate The Midwest Express Connection turboprop aircraft feeding passengers to the larger aircraft operated by Midwest Express.
On January 22, 1971, Northwest Airlines Flight 433 was hijacked after taking off from Milwaukee to Detroit, Michigan. The hijacker demanded to be taken to Algeria, but landed in Cuba. Midwest Connect (formerly Midwest Express Connection) was the brand name for the regional airline service of Midwest Airlines, rather than a certificated airline carrier. Skyway Airlines was the sole operator of Midwest Connect since its inception in 1989, until SkyWest Airlines began additional Midwest Connect service on April 1, 2007. [1]
