Quoted: Right now, a "screaming good deal" on an M2 would be $15k or less, IMO. They've never been as insanely high as M60s/MG42s/etc, so $20-25k is within a reasonable price range for someone who wants one. Without much effort, semi-auto M2HB/M3HBs can be had for about $6000-6500 right now.
It wasn't that long ago, the kits were a couple hundred bucks apiece, and .50 BMG was less than $1.00 a round. Im not sure if anyone else finds this interesting but Atlantic firearms is selling authentic Browning .50 cal machine guns (in semi auto i assume) to the public now for $8,000.
This is a fully functional SEMI-AUTO 1/2 scale model of the Browning M2 i built useing a Ruger 10/22 as the donor gun. Highly modified upper, lower, and barrel. All other parts were scratch built (except receiver & barrel) from CCS Prints plans useing 1018 steel and zinc parkerized. The tripod folds for transport, has interchangable feet ...
Pretty much, the M2 is a beast and those moving parts are heavy. At the same time you dont need to max out the charge to make the gun run reliably. Some of the M2 owners will post soon about what loads will work, 220 grs of powder should make any M2 run without any issues. 240 grs should be used as a MAX load but I know guys that have used more.
The parts are of unknown origin/age/condition. When a M2HB fails it's not a good day for anyone, so you want good quality parts. Parts kit, $6k, semi side plate & semi trigger/sear ~$1k. Then you need to machine the sear slot to fit the semiauto sear, not an easy job unless you use carbide tooling and a good mill.

TNVV/NG/PVS-14-GP – U.S. Gen3 Filmed Green Phosphor! $2599. [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Anybody have a set of blueprints for a semi auto 1919? ARCHIVED. Posted: 4/20/2015 1:20:50 PM EST. Looking for ATF approved set of prints with which to build a semi auto 1919. I had a set and they've disappeared.
I even mix and match the framesets sometimes to allow a better fit for the customer. For instance a shorter lumbar measurement may want to run a DG3 frameset (which is 2" shorter), on a DG16. And conversely, a longer lumbar measurement may want to run a longer DG 16 frameset (which is 2" longer) on the DG3.
