West Virginia’s fall trout stockings in 2024 are scheduled for the weeks of October 21 and October 28. During these two weeks, we will stock 41 waters around the state once each week, which means you’ll have even more opportunities to catch trout.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — After four streams were removed from West Virginia’s trout stocking schedule by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) in January, Gov. Jim Justice announced on Wednesday that an agreement has been made to reinstate them.
This year's trout stocking will see approximately 35,000 pounds of trout, each weighing between 1 and 2 pounds, and an additional 6,500 pounds of larger "monster" trout, weighing 3 to 6 pounds, released into 40 lakes and streams throughout West Virginia.
As part of the agreement, the WVDNR will reinstate stockings in four previously closed waters and restore the stocking frequency of 20 iconic streams during the month of May. Streams returning to the original stocking schedule are: Pinnacle Creek - Wyoming County. Camp Creek - Mercer County.
