The business was established by the Dickinson family in 1912 as the Grainger Trust to acquire tenanted residential properties in Newcastle upon Tyne.In the 1970s and 1980s it acquired large residential estates from British Coal, British Rail and Reckitt & Coleman.
Blagdon Hall (grid reference) is a privately owned English country house near Cramlington in Northumberland. It is a Grade I listed building. [1] The house and estate have been in the ownership of the White Ridley family since 1698. The present Viscount Ridley is the science writer and hereditary peer Matt Ridley.
The Crown granted the estate to the Greenwich Hospital, by whom it was sold in 1832 for £55,000 to Isaac Cookson, a wealthy Newcastle upon Tyne merchant. [2] Cookson was Mayor of Newcastle in 1809 and High Sheriff of Northumberland in 1838. In 1881, the Cookson family lived in some style with eighteen servants. [4]
Otterburn Hall is an English country house and estate in Otterburn, Northumberland.It is situated in 500 acres (200 ha) of deer park and woodland in the Northumberland National Park, northeastern England.
Lilburn Tower is a privately owned 19th-century mansion house at Lilburn, near Wooler, Northumberland. The property is a Grade II* listed building [2] and forms part of the Lilburn Estate. A number of discrete buildings and monuments are scattered across the grange, including the Hurlestone, Hurlestone Tower and an astronomical observatory.
