The guy before me was buying 350 Legend ammo. A quick glance and I saw .243, .270, 30/30, 30-06 and there were plenty more which is great news for those of us who don't have any big box sporting goods stores that carry ammo in the area which is a lot of us. Of course no 5.56/223 or popular center fire pistol ammo per chainwide mandate.
They wer nearly ass accurat as a bolt action and very few people realize what great guns they were. Besides 30-06, the 760's were available in 270 win, 280 rem, .308, 35 Remington, 6mm Remington, 257 Roberts, and even 35 Whelen in the later model 7600. There was even an 18 inch carbine version available in 30-06.
On the one hand, 30-06: The great American hunting round. Been with us a long long time. Lot's of hunters out there who if they have one bolt rifle, might have this as the caliber. On the other hand, .308: The military round du jour in 7.62x51. Also with us for quite a while, and also a respectable and common round these days.
I hate Walmart. But one is at a convenient location on the way home from work and I seldom stop by for last minute dinner fixings. I always peruse the ammo shelves as I also seldom find 500 Rem 22lr for $9.99 or 20 Rem 30-06 for $11.99. I don’t care who you are but I’m not passing up those deals.

He did tell me that there were some Winchester .22lr ammo in the center of the big isle to look at if it interested me. When I looked at the display, which contained a guess of 200-250 bulk boxes of my favorite hunting ammo for .22lr. Winchest Expert HV 36g lead HP and it was also $16.97 for a box of 500 rounds.
I posted this in the other Walmart ammo thread. I just bought 1k of 115 grain 9mm for $150, 1k of 165 grain .40 cal for $180, 1k of .45acp 230 grain for $200. Going back this weekend and see what the price is for their .223 and 5.56.
"Yesterday I went into a large Walmart and asked if they had any of the Federal 550 round 36g HP copper boxes left at $16.97 and the clerk, who seems like a nice friendly and knowledgeable lad, said that he had a couple of boxes left in the glass behind the counter and asked if I wanted both boxes.
Wal Mart stocks at night. They don't get ammo everyday. Most days they do not. But when ammo does come in it's put on the shelf at night. You will need to be there 1st thing in the morning everyday to check the case. Eventually you'll be there when ammo is on the shelf, and before it's bought up by others.
