Joe Torres (born June 2, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American journalist and author of Puerto Rican ancestry. Torres is a news anchor and reporter for WABC-TV in New York.
The Yankees retired Torre's uniform number 6 on "Joe Torre Day", August 23, 2014, and honored him with a plaque in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium. [ 97 ] On August 27, 2016 , the Cardinals inducted Torre into the franchise Hall of Fame .

Torres attended Gateway High School in Kissimmee, Florida. As a pitcher for the school's baseball team, he had a 1.58 earned run average (ERA) and 370 strikeouts in 198 + 2 ⁄ 3 innings pitched. As a senior, he had a 0.38 ERA with 128 strikeouts in 55 innings. Torres accepted a scholarship to play college baseball for the University of Miami. [1]
