Ranjit Sinha (27 March 1953 – 16 April 2021) was an Indian police officer [4] and was the former director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He was the director general of police of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the director general of the Railway Protection Force before joining as the CBI director in December 2012 for a two-year tenure.
CBI director Ranjit Sinha submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court that the coal-scam status report prepared by the agency was shared with Congress Party law minister Ashwani Kumar "as desired by him" and with secretary-level officers from the prime minister's office (PMO) and the coal ministry before presenting it to the court.
