Operation Black Ice, the inaugural season of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, was released on 2 February 2016. The Operation introduced a new map, a frozen yacht in Canada. It also introduced two Canadian Operators from the "Special Operations Force" Joint Task Force 2, Frost and Buck.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six (often shortened to Rainbow Six or R6) is a tactical shooter video game series by Red Storm Entertainment and Ubisoft, marketed under the Tom Clancy's banner of military-themed video games.
Several years after the game's release, some critics regarded Siege as one of the best multiplayer games in the modern market due to the improvements brought by the post-launch updates. The company partnered with ESL to make Siege an esports game. In December 2020, the game surpassed 70 million registered players across all platforms.

A spin-off of Rainbow Six Siege (2015), Extraction is a cooperative multiplayer game in which players must work together to combat and defeat a type of parasite-like aliens called the Archæans. The game was released for PlayStation 4 , PlayStation 5 , Google Stadia , Windows , Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on January 20, 2022.
