University of Kashmir (UoK), informally known as Kashmir University (KU), is a collegiate public state university located in the Hazratbal neighbourhood, on the western side of Dal Lake in the city of Srinagar, in Jammu and Kashmir, India, which was established in 1948.
Sensing the need for such a facility, [3] work on the University Convocation Complex commenced on 7 November 1981 when the foundation stone of the multi-Crore project was laid by then Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Soon after, the construction work remained suspended for several years due to technical reasons.
The college is affiliated with the University of Kashmir and recognised by the University Grants Commission of India under 2(f) and 12(b) of UGC Act, 1956. [1] The college has been accredited by NAAC for the first time in 2019 and awarded Grade B. [ 2 ]
